A People's Liberation Army drone was seen flying past Taipei 101 in footage broadcast by Chinese state media on Monday during ongoing military exercises around Taiwan.
CCTV's news broadcast showed the clip as part of the "Justice Mission 2025" drills announced earlier by the Eastern Theater Command. Accompanying text read: "You are beneath my cockpit window, you are ahead of my ship's bow. I could reach out and scoop up Sun Moon Lake's water, I could step up to the peak of Ali Mountain."
The exercises, which started on Monday, involve army, navy, air force and rocket force units operating in the Taiwan Strait and waters north, southwest, southeast and east of the island. The drills focus on air and sea patrols, seizing control, blockading key areas and deterrence from external lines, with vessels and aircraft approaching from multiple directions for joint strikes.
The command said the drills test joint combat capabilities and serve as a serious warning to Taiwan independence forces and external interference.
