A significant burglary occurred in Tseung Kwan O, resulting in the loss of valuables collectively worth over HK$700,000 on Wednesday night.
At approximately 8 pm on December 4, a 47-year-old man named Ho returned to his village house on Yau Yue Wan Village Road after work. He discovered that the windows and safe of his home had been pried open, with clear signs of looting. He immediately contacted the police.
Upon arrival, the police conducted a preliminary inventory and determined that various items had been stolen. These included a handbag valued at approximately HK$30,000, two Rolex watches totaling about HK$60,000, a camera worth around HK$7,000, a collection of goldware valued at approximately HK$518,000, and roughly HK$118,000 in mixed currencies comprising Hong Kong dollars, Renminbi, and Japanese yen.
The police suspect that the thief accessed the second floor of the house from a nearby location before entering the premises.
The incident has been classified as a burglary and is currently under investigation by the Tseung Kwan O Police District Criminal Investigation Team.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the burglary.
