HKO logs record-breaking latest occurrence of very hot weather of the year

The Hong Kong Observatory said the temperature recorded at its headquarters until 12.30 pm was 33.6 degrees, marking the latest occurrence of very hot weather of the year. It is also the latest recorded very hot weather of the year since records began in 1884, breaking the previous record set on October 16, 1939.

Meanwhile, the weather watchdog said a fresh to strong easterly airstream will affect the coast of Guangdong in the next couple of days.

A dry northeast monsoon is expected to reach southern China on Tuesday. The weather will be generally fine over the region midweek next week. It will be slightly cooler in the morning and at night. The temperature difference between day and night will be relatively large. 

Meanwhile, the broad area of low pressure over the western North Pacific will develop gradually and move towards the seas east of Luzon in the next few days. However, there are uncertainties in its subsequent movement, said the HKO.
