The family members of former chief executive of the now-disbanded Confederation of Trade Unions, Mung Siu-tat, were taken away by national security police from their Shatin home on Tuesday in authorities’ latest move against the city’s eight wanted activists.
According to sources, officers had raided the family’s home in Shatin on Tuesday morning and have taken away Mung’s older brother as well as his wife and son for questioning.
It was understood the trio was suspected of assisting persons wanted by police to continue to commit acts and engage in activities that endanger national security.
They were released on the same day and no arrests were made.
Mung was among eight self-exiled activists each being placed a HK$1 million bounty by the city’s national security police as they were wanted over alleged collusion with foreign countries or external elements.
According to a police reward notice, Mung, 51, is accused of smearing the central and local government during an overseas conference last June and advocated separating Hong Kong from China.
