Cracks discovered in concrete ceiling and walls at Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Following a number of incidents involving falling debris in several public hospitals, the latest hospital mishap has seen cracks discovered in the concrete ceiling and walls in a staff changing room of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with the rusty rebars exposed. 

According to sources, the cracks were found during an inspection on Wednesday prompted by the recent concrete falling cases. 

Photos taken at the scene show that the hospital’s aging infrastructure, combined with water damage, has resulted in the widespread peeling of the concrete ceiling, exposing the rusty steel rebars. Cracks were also found in the walls. 

The changing room situated on the first floor of the hospital building has since been cordoned off out of safety concerns.
