The Chinese mainland reported 32 new coronavirus patients, all of whom are those who arrived in the country Thursday, bringing the total number of such patients to 2,706.
This marks the highest daily increase in more than a month and up sharply from nine cases reported a day earlier.
The National Health Commission said Friday, 13 were reported in Shaanxi, 12 in Shanghai, three each in Tianjin and Guangdong, and one in Fujian.
Among all imported patients 2,541 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 165 remained hospitalized, the commission said.
