Hong Kong Lo Wai-fung finishes seventh in the men's taekwondo under 68 kg, losing to China's Liang Yushuai in the repechage at the Paris Olympic Games early Friday morning.

Hong Kong’s taekwondo athlete Lo Wai-fung lost to Tokyo gold medalist Uzbekistan’s Ulugbek Rashitov on Thursday, but Rashitov went on to make it to the final, granting Lo entry to the repechage competition.
Lo then faced Chinese athlete Liang Yushuai in the in the repechage at the Paris Olympic Games early morning today for a chance at bronze.
The two came in strong in the first round, but after a close battle, Liang came out on top 4-5 in the contest.
Unfortunately, Lo failed to regain control in the crucial second round, as Liang, more proactively, landed two body blows and two leg blows, achieving an eight-point lead.
And while leading 8-0, the Chinese athlete landed a turning kick to Lo's head earning five points, ending the game early with 34 seconds left. A round ends automatically if one contestant is ahead by 12 points.
Lo said during both of his bouts, he was nervous due to the crowd at the Grand Palais, but was also excited because he wanted to enjoy the stage at his Olympic debut.
The Hong Kong athlete said that during the first round he believed that he followed the coach's plan during the match, but thought that during the second round his opponent dispersed his rhythm, allowing Liang to land a turning kick to the back of his head and extend the lead.
