Sheung Shui MTR station installs automatic platform gates early

The MTR Corporation has commenced the installation of the automatic platform gates at Sheung Shui Station Monday night.

Following the installation of automatic doors on the East Rail Line platforms at Lok Ma Chau, the rail giant proceeded to install the doors at Sheung Shui Station last night (Nov 20), ahead of schedule.

The MTR said that the engineering team picked the two golden hours after the trains had been withdrawn to commence their installation works and was pushed into service after completing the installation and final checks.

The rail giant had also deployed station assistants to maintain order and assist passengers if necessary.

Tai Wai Station and Sha Tin Station will also start installation work within December, with a total of four stations planned to undergo installation work.

The engineering team also stated that they will closely monitor the progress and continue to make every effort to promote the platform gate installation project.
