Press corps takes cover as bee swarm descends on White House lawn

A massive swarm of bees descended on the White House grounds on Friday, forcing reporters in the North Lawn media area to take cover for about 20 minutes, according to reports.

"There is a bee tornado happening here at the White House," Fox News correspondent Alexandria Hoff wrote on X.

Viral video showed thousands of bees buzzing chaotically before many converged on a nearby tree housing a large hive. No one was reported stung.

While the cause of the swarming was not immediately clear, first lady Melania Trump recently expanded the White House's beekeeping program, adding a new custom-made beehive with two more colonies. Before the addition, the White House bee population had swelled to about 70,000 bees.
