An Indian man has reunited with his family after 45 years when a second car accident miraculously restored memories lost in his first crash decades earlier.
Rikhi Ram, now 61, from a remote village in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district, left home at 16 in 1980 to find work in Haryana. After taking a hotel job, he suffered a severe traffic accident that caused complete amnesia, cutting off contact with his family. His parents eventually died without learning his fate.
Unable to remember his identity, colleagues renamed him Ravi Chaudhary. He eventually settled in Nanded, married in 1994, raised three children and built a new life working at a college.
The extraordinary turnaround came days ago when another traffic accident caused significant head trauma. During treatment, Ram suddenly regained his childhood memories.
With help from local college students, he located a school in Sirmaur district matching his memories. A former classmate, Rudra Prakash, confirmed his identity and arranged a family reunion.
Siblings embraced tearfully as villagers celebrated his return. The family had long held funeral rites for him, believing him dead. Ram expressed overwhelming joy at returning home and hopes to spend his remaining years with relatives.
