Love a hard business in legislature

Two legislative councillors have been in a love scandal that saw the female half of the relationship, L, burst into tears at a meal with other lawmakers after getting drunk. She accused the male lawmaker, W, of toying with her emotions.

People close to the pair said L had been trying to pursue W for awhile, and had given a luxury scarf, worth around HK$5,000, to W, who is a member of a big party.

But W refused to develop a relationship with her, prompting L to air her grievance to colleagues - and she also fired almost all employees working in her councillor's office due to her bad mood.

In fact, L refers to 36-year-old Connie Lam So-wai, who represents New Territories South East, while W is 39-year-old Edmund Wong Chun-sek, representing the accountancy functional constituency.

He is also a member of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong. Some lawmakers say Lam's words around the legislature have been tinged with anger, and she's also been in a bad mood.

Another legislator remarked that while the two are single their relationship issues should not intrude on others.
