More power to Tung Wah Group

The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals is HK$130 million better off this week after its charity gala on Saturday.

That means more funds for the development of medical services and health, education, community services and historical and cultural conservation.

The gala, a highlight for TVB as a co-organizer, featured performances by an array of leading singers, artists and Cantonese opera actresses who added luster to the business of raising funds though donations and an auction.

A gala lighting ceremony was conducted by Tung Wah chairman Herman Wai Ho-man, backed by his board of directors and overseen by Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen, who was guest of honor.
