Renaissance College Hong Kong (RCHK) is proud to have pioneered the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) in Hong Kong. IBCP is more than just an alternative to IB Diploma (IBDP); it offers a variety of pathways for secondary students who choose college education that combines vocational and academic learning.
Taking a specialised pathway
IBCP helps RCHK students get a deeper dive into learning connected to their future career aspirations or personal interest. All components of the IBCP reflect a balance between career-related objectives and academic rigour, intending to cultivate internationally-minded and well-rounded learners.
Who is IBCP for?
Throughout the programme, students are given more options for their differing needs and varied learning styles. The IBCP may be an option for students who:
- want to focus on crafting their specialist skills (music, performing arts, sporting commitments, etc.) in a more hands-on learning environment and approach
- do not want or find it challenging to cope with the demands of the IBDP, or individual elements of this programme
- know what they want to study and wish to have a head start to specialise in this area.
Career opportunities
IBCP students have a wide variety of career choices. The Art & Design career studies offer programmes for students aspiring to work as professionals in animation, graphic design or motion media design, to name a few. Students who undertake the Musical Theatre programme can become music therapists, casting directors, lighting and sound designers or script writers in the future. Sustainability and innovation are strongly integrated into business strategies and thus students who pursue careers in this field, will find opportunities after Business and Sustainability pathway as sustainability manager, supply chain administrator, sustainability analyst, change manager, or carbon impact specialist.
Practical approach with affiliated partners
As a long-term IBCP provider, RCHK established partnerships and is affiliated with various institutes to offer the career-related study component. Each organisation is responsible for providing the most up-to-date content, and students receive grades according to each institute’s assessment standards.
