Hong Kong developer New World Development (0017) has unveiled its latest flagship project in mainland China under the company's K11 brand, K11 Elysea – a new cultural-retail complex in central Shanghai.
The project, with a total gross floor area of approximately 1.4 million square feet, will be located at the heart of Huaihai Road, a high-end commercial district often dubbed the “Champs-Elysees of the East.” It will encompass cultural retail, art spaces, and office towers, and will sit across the Shanghai K11 Art Mall, which opened in 2013.
The two developments are expected to generate a synergistic “twin landmark” effect for K11’s commercial footprint in the city.
At the project’s naming ceremony, New World signed a strategic partnership agreement with local government to deepen cooperation on the commercial zone.
The developer also announced the first batch of potential anchor tenants for its K11 ATELIER office component in Tsim Sha Tsui. Hermes Greater China President Cao Weiming and Linda Qiao, head of the Shanghai office of Singapore-based law firm Rajah & Tann, expressed interest in joining the development.
