The only nostalgic open-air restaurant in Sha Tin district, Shatin Inn Restaurant in Tai Wai, will be shutting down in late September after operating for nearly 60 years. The restaurant located in the mid-levels of Tai Wai also has an indoor dining area and a small children's playground. 
The Indonesian restaurant has been famous for being the filming location for many Hong Kong films in the 1960s to 1990s, and for its signature Indonesian street food satay. Web users expressed regret at the closure.

It specializes in Indonesian cuisine, including gado-gado, tom kha kai (stewed chicken with coconut sauce), beef rendang, nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice) and the world renowned satay skewers.
Many Cantonese feature films and Hong Kong films were shot at the restaurant. The most well-known among them is All About Ah-Long, directed by Johnnie To Kei-fung and starring Chow Yun-fat, making it a pilgrimage for movie fans.
