Longer reach for people in distress

Hongkongers in distress or in of need help in the mainland and overseas can contact the Immigration Department with the new 1868 WeChat assistance hotline and the 1868 Chatbot.

This is an upgrade of services and support after the department launched the 1868 WhatsApp assistance hotline in April last year.

With the new WeChat hotline and the 1868 Chatbot it will be more convenient for residents in distress or in need of help outside the SAR to contact the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit. Residents outside Hong Kong can also contact the ImmD by calling 1868 or the 1868 hotline using network data via the ImmD Mobile App or submit an online assistance request.

But the WeChat hotline and Chatbox function are not applicable for general enquiries. People should call the general enquiry hotline at 2824 6111 or e-mail to enquiry@immd.gov.hk for other immigration problems.
