Museum's golden touch for Chinese art

The Hong Kong Palace Museum which opened in July has received 1,145 Chinese artworks donated by 12 local collectors and artists.

They cover a wide range of art treasures such as gold and silver ornaments, ceramics and textiles, demonstrating the richness of Chinese art and the development of craftsmanship, artistic styles and aesthetics over five thousand years.

Some of the donated artworks are on display in the HKPM's exhibition "Private to Public: The History of the Chinese Art Collection in Hong Kong" in Gallery 6 of the museum. Others are expected to be exhibited in 2023.

In February, the HKPM will launch the first special exhibition of the museum's collections, exploring the role of gold in the cultural and artistic exchanges among different communities in ancient Asia.

The museum will make the most of its valuable donated works in other ways, including research, publication, conservation, youth education, cultural enterprise and international collaboration.
