The MTR has updated its plans for the typhoon season, which for most people means a question of how they will be able to catch a ride when weather conditions turn bad.
The worst of it would means services suspended if Storm Signal 9 or Hurricane Signal 10 are in force.
The corporation is in any event refining its notification system when questions loom about the weather. During any typhoon the MTR will update service information via MTR Mobile, Facebook page, its official website, public announcements on trains and in stations plus notices as well as through media.
MTR crews have also been checking trees near lines to determine if any appear in danger of falling, and flood boards and sandbags have been earmarked for entrances and exits for use if conditions are challenging.
Drills and other exercises are being arranged so all staff and workers are prepared for emergencies.
