A 71-year-old man has been charged with one count of cruelty to animals after allegedly throwing stones at pigeons in Lai Kok Estate, Sham Shui Po, last November, with police linking him to at least two such incidents.
Last November, a cleaner at Lai Kok Estate in Sham Shui Po spotted a 71-year-old man surnamed Ng throwing stones at pigeons.
Sham Shui Po patrol officers arrived, found the man holding stones, and recovered a dead pigeon from a rubbish bin nearby. He was arrested on suspicion of cruelty to animals.
Further police investigation revealed the man was connected to at least two animal cruelty incidents.
Today, authorities announced he has been formally charged with one count of cruelty to animals.
The case is scheduled to appear in West Kowloon Magistrates' Court on March 26.
