A 26-year-old Hong Kong man was found dead in his room at The Okura Prestige Taipei hotel in Zhongshan District on Wednesday, with police sealing the scene and reviewing security camera footage to determine the circumstances.
According to sources, the man checked into the hotel after arriving in Taiwan. At midday, when he failed to check out by the deadline, staff entered the room and discovered him unresponsive on the floor with no signs of life.
Paramedics confirmed he had been dead for some time. Police quickly arrived, cordoned off the room and floor, and began forensic examination.
Investigators are checking hotel surveillance footage to establish his check-in time and whether anyone entered or left the room during his stay.
The exact cause of death awaits further police inquiry and autopsy results.
