Grab your umbrellas as heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected tonight

Showers will be heavy at times with squally thunderstorms over Hong Kong on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, the Hong Kong Observatory warned.

According to the Special Weather Tips updated at 4.30pm, the heavy rain is caused by the influence of an active southerly airstream.

The Observatory stated that it will issue rainstorm warning signals or the Localised Heavy Rain Advisory when necessary.

Members of the public are advised to pay attention to the latest weather information issued by the Observatory before going to work or school tomorrow morning.

Additionally, Severe Typhoon Saudel was centered about 290 kilometres north northwest of Okinawa at 4pm. It is forecast to move west or west northwest at about 12 kilometres per hour across the East China Sea.
