The Observatory warns that temperatures will drop significantly to 12 degrees next Wednesday (Jan 21).
The weather watchdog said a dry northeast monsoon will bring mainly fine weather for the rest of this week and early next week, while an intense winter monsoon is expected to reach southern China by midweek next week.
Under the influence of a broad band of clouds, temperatures will fall appreciably over the region starting next Tuesday (Jan 20), with the lowest temperature around 15 degrees.
The minimum temperature will then drop further to 12 degrees next Wednesday and Thursday, while daytime highs hover around 16 to 17 degrees.
Meanwhile, the area of low pressure over the western North Pacific is expected to develop gradually in the next couple of days.
It will then move towards the vicinity of the seas east of the Philippines and bring unsettled weather to the region, the Observatory said.
