Signs at both entrances state hourly parking is paused due to emergency systemic updates; monthly parking remains available.
The Architectural Services Department said system stability needs improvement, instructed the contractor to update from the evening of December 31 (Wed), expects short-term resumption, but gave no details on issues.
On-site staff told reporters updates are ongoing, daily testing continues, and senior management will decide reopening timing.
The car park has five levels, but only the basement uses the automated system, where very few vehicles are present. Workers were seen repeatedly testing by driving cars from parking bays to the exit and back.
A driver surnamed Siu, who visited for government business, expressed frustration at the lack of hourly spots, describing it as troublesome. He switched to the nearby open-air car park, and stated that despite similar fees, he prefers covered parking.
Monthly parker surnamed Cheuk was unaware of the suspension, as it does not affect him.
