A 59-year-old government statistician has been charged with loitering after allegedly following and photographing a female student during an open day at a Hong Kong girls’ school last year.
The incident took place on July 5, 2025, at St. Paul's Convent School in Causeway Bay. The accused reportedly appeared alone on the fourth floor of the school’s public area, causing the student to reasonably fear for her safety.
The accused, who works for the Census and Statistics Department, appeared in the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on Friday (Jan 2). He did not enter a plea as his defence sought more documents and legal advice.
Magistrate Kestrel Lam Tsz-hong granted bail of HK$30,000, with conditions that the accused must not contact the prosecution’s witnesses or return to the school. The accused is scheduled to appear in court again on February 13.
