The Immigration Department projects that approximately 11.52 million passengers will traverse Hong Kong's control points during the forthcoming Christmas and New Year festive periods.
In collaboration with the Shenzhen General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection and other relevant mainland authorities, the ImmD estimates that around 9.65 million passengers will utilize land boundary control points from December 24 to December 28, as well as from December 31 to January 4, 2026.
Inbound and outbound passenger traffic at land boundary control points is expected to peak on Christmas Day (December 25) and December 28, with approximately 689,000 and 695,000 passengers anticipated on these days, respectively.
The Immigration Department foresees significant passenger traffic at the Lo Wu Control Point, the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point, and the Shenzhen Bay Control Point, estimating a daily average of about 225,000, 201,000, and 161,000 passengers at each point, respectively.
The SAR government has discussed with the Shenzhen Municipal government to extend the service hours of control points on New Year's Eve. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge control point and the Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang control point will maintain round-the-clock operation as usual on New Year's Eve.
