Fallen firefighter Ho Wai-ho honored with roadside tribute in Tai Po

The funeral procession for posthumously promoted Senior Fireman Ho Wai-ho passed through Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po on Friday for a solemn roadside tribute after his highest honors ceremony.

At 11.10am today, escorted by traffic police, the hearse slowly drove by the site of the deadly 5-alarm blaze where Ho lost his life during rescue operations.

A large contingent of firefighters and police formed a salute line at the Kwong Wang Street roundabout facing Wang Fuk Court.

They saluted as the procession approached, stepped forward individually for final respects, then saluted again together.

Citizens paid respects at the Kwong Fuk Estate bus stop.

The six-minute ceremony was marked by a grave and heavy atmosphere.

Among the tribute team were New Territories North Regional Commander Lam Man-han and Tai Po District Commander Kelvin Kong Wing-cheung.

The procession then continued to the cemetery.
