Fire caused by aromatherapy oil in Kwai Chung flat extinguished quickly: No injuries reported

A flat in Kwai Chung caught fire on Saturday afternoon, but firefighters put it out within minutes, and the resident was safely rescued unharmed.

Police received multiple reports at 2:49pm of smoke coming from a Shek Wai House, Shek Lei (II) Estate.

Firefighters arrived promptly, extinguished the blaze by around 3pm, and evacuated about 150 residents who had already moved to safety on their own. 

The flat's occupant was brought out by firefighters.

Preliminary findings indicate the fire started accidentally when aromatherapy essential oil ignited nearby items, with no signs of suspicious causes.
