The Fire Services Department (FSD) on Thursday posthumously conferred the honorary title of Senior Fireman on the late Ho Wai-ho in recognition of his exemplary service and selfless dedication to duty.
The ceremony was held at the Sha Tin Fire Station, where the Director of Fire Services, Andy Yeung Yan-kin, presented Ho's family with the posthumous title conferment certificate and an embroidery of the Senior Fireman's rank badge.
Ho’s colleagues from the New Territories North Command were also present to witness the ceremony.
Ho was found unconscious while responding to a five-alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po on November 26 (Wed).
He was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Born in 1987, Ho joined the FSD as a firefighter in 2016. He served at the Sha Tin Fire Station and consistently demonstrated outstanding performance and dedication during his nearly nine years of service.
“He participated in a number of firefighting and rescue missions, fully showcasing his professional competence,” the FSD said.
Additionally, the FSD will hold a funeral with full honors for Ho at the Universal Funeral Parlour in Hung Hom on December 19, after which he will be laid to rest at the Gallant Garden in Wo Hop Shek.
