A 28-year-old off-duty police auxiliary has been charged with assaulting his 24-year-old wife at their Wong Tai Sin flat in July.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of common assault after a social worker reported the incident on July 26. The alleged assault occurred on July 20 inside a unit at Tsz Lok Estate, where the man is accused of attacking his wife with his hands.
The woman complained of arm pain but did not require hospital treatment. Following legal advice, the man has been charged with one count of common assault and will appear at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on Wednesday.
The auxiliary, who has been suspended from duty, is understood to be stationed in Hung Hom district. Police said the force takes the conduct of its personnel seriously and does not tolerate any illegal acts, vowing to handle such cases stringently.
