A 79-year-old woman was fatally struck and run over by a tourist coach on Monday afternoon while crossing Sai Yee Street in Mong Kok, prompting the immediate arrest of the 59-year-old driver on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The accident occurred shortly after 3pm today near the intersection with Argyle Street as the coach travelled towards Tai Kok Tsui.
The woman, surnamed Poon, suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving paramedics.
Cardboard sheets, personal belongings, and collectible football cards were scattered across the roadway.
