Father and son arrested after saw-wielding chase at Maritime Square

A 78-year-old man and his 52-year-old son were arrested on Sunday after the father allegedly chased his son through Maritime Square shopping mall in Tsing Yi while carrying a saw, with police revealing the pair had argued over family matters.

Police received a report around 3.55pm on Saturday that a man was chasing another with a saw inside Maritime Square. Officers reviewed CCTV footage and arrested both men on Sunday at Cheung Fat Estate in Tsing Yi on suspicion of fighting in a public place. The 78-year-old was also arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

Police seized a 40cm saw and the clothes worn during the incident. The son has a history of emotional issues, according to sources.
