Captain Matt Orr’s header gives Hong Kong 1:0 dream start against Singapore

A packed Kai Tak Sports Park erupted in the 15th minute on Tuesday night as Hong Kong captain Matt Orr rose unmarked to power home a pinpoint Everton cross with a thumping header, sending the home side into halftime leading Singapore 1-0 in their do-or-die Asian Cup qualifier.

The goal capped a bright opening spell full of aerial threat from both flanks. Hong Kong repeatedly targeted the channels, whipping in dangerous high balls that had the Singapore defense scrambling. 

Moments after the breakthrough, Sun Ming-him curled another left-wing delivery that Yue Tze-nam nodded across goal, only for Juninho to sky his close-range effort under heavy pressure from Singapore and let the visitors off the hook.

With the score still delicately poised at 1-0 and everything to play for in the second half, the raucous home crowd continues to support the city's team.
