National security police question mother of wanted fugitive

The mother of the wanted activist Wong Chun-wah was taken away by the national security police for questioning on Thursday (Nov 6).

Wong's mother was taken to Mong Kok Police Station to help with the investigation and left around 11am.

Police have put a HK$200,000 bounty on 54-year-old Wong after he left Hong Kong in December last year.

He is among the 19 individuals suspected of committing offenses under the Hong Kong National Security Law by organizing, establishing, or participating in a subversive organization named the "Hong Kong Parliament" abroad and is wanted by the authorities.

Reports indicate Wong was part of a "renovation crew" in 2019 involved in blocking roads, vandalizing shops, throwing bricks and petrol bombs.

He was allegedly joining others to instigate a referendum and swore in as a so-called "legislator" of the "Hong Kong Parliament" between February and June this year, aiming to subvert state power and promote "self-determination."
