In a dazzling double victory for the city, Hong Kong’s Rosewood Hotel soared to the top of the 2025 World’s 50 Best Hotels list unveiled in London today, while Bar Leone clinched the planet’s number-one bar title—cementing the “Pearl of the Orient” as a twin titan of luxury hospitality and nightlife.
Rosewood Hong Kong, the 65-story harborfront gem that opened in 2019, jumped two spots from last year’s third place to claim the global crown, edging out Bangkok’s Capella, which slipped to third.
Judges praised its unmatched ability to deliver flawless, personalized service to throngs of guests in a market already brimming with ultra-luxury icons.
The victory marked a triumph for the newcomer over established heavyweights, with four more Hong Kong properties also making the cut: The Upper House in Tai Koo at tenth, Mandarin Oriental in Central at 41st, The Peninsula in Tsim Sha Tsui at 54th, and Four Seasons in Central at 86th.
The hotel’s allure has drawn royalty, celebrities, and power players alike; Liverpool FC’s Premier League champions even chose it as their base during a recent Hong Kong football extravaganza, sparking fan frenzy outside its doors.
Adding to the city’s streak, Bar Leone in Central—already Asia’s reigning champion—leapt to the pinnacle of the World’s 50 Best Bars rankings announced earlier, becoming the first venue to simultaneously hold both global and regional titles.
Fellow Hong Kong spot Coa also landed on the list at 38th, representing the city across 29 featured metropolises worldwide.
The twin triumphs spotlight Hong Kong’s magnetic blend of gourmet prowess, opulent stays, and inventive nightlife, drawing travelers eager for experiences that live up to the city’s glittering reputation.
