Speaking on a radio program on Thursday (Oct 30), Senior Superintendent (Cleansing & Pest Control) of FEHD Hung Sai-kit stated that authorities will conduct vector investigations, apply insecticides, and remove stagnant water within 24 hours of a case being confirmed.
These measures will cover an area within a 250-meter radius of the patient's residence or other locations they visited during their infectious period.
The FEHD will also enhance inspections in related areas and strengthen public health education on mosquito control.
Meanwhile, Hung mentioned that the Gravidtrap Index for Aedes albopictus, which monitors 58 areas, has remained below 10 percent as of Monday.
Immediate action will be taken if the index shows any signs of rising, he added.
Additionally, inspections of the National Games venues will be intensified to eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites, and venue operators will be guided to enhance their mosquito prevention efforts.
