The collision occurred at around 3pm near 1 Hung To Road when a DHL-branded van was traveling along Lei Yip Street in the direction of Hoi Bun Road.
The van is said to have hit the female pedestrian as she was using a marked crosswalk. It is not known if the pedestrian signal was in her favor at the time of the incident.
The impact was severe, throwing the woman approximately three meters from the point of contact. She was found lying unconscious with critical injuries.
Paramedics rushed the victim to United Christian Hospital. She was later certified dead despite resuscitation efforts.
The force of the collision left the front of the yellow DHL van visibly dented. The scene was cordoned off by police, who are investigating the cause of the accident. A pool of blood remained on the road as officers conducted their examination.
