A 26-year-old woman suffered head and limb injuries after being hit by a fast-moving red sedan while crossing a zebra crossing in Yuen Long on Thursday afternoon, in a frightening incident captured on video that has highlighted road safety concerns for pedestrians.
The accident occurred around 4.31pm near Tsz Tong Tsuen on Kam Sheung Road, where the woman, surnamed So, was making her way across the marked crossing.
As she glanced left to check for oncoming traffic and stepped forward, the private car barreled into her, sending her tumbling to the ground.
Bystanders reacted quickly, with one alerting authorities and staying by her side to provide aid, while another drew attention to the collision.
Emergency services rushed So to the hospital for treatment, where her condition has since stabilized.
The impact left the sedan's left windshield shattered, underscoring the force of the crash.
