This first-of-its-kind annual event will feature giant inflatable sculptures of beloved characters, including Labubu, Doraemon, Kaws’ collaboration with Sesame Street’s Elmo, and McDonald’s Grimace, cruising along the harbor.
The largest of these inflatables stretches an impressive 20 meters long, promising a breathtaking display against the city’s skyline.
The festivities kick off with an eight-day pop-up market at Tamar Park in Admiralty, running from October 25 to November 1.
This vibrant market will host themed pop-up shops showcasing fan-favorite intellectual properties, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the charm of their beloved characters.
Interactive game zones, themed dining options, and exclusive photo spots will enhance the experience, while a specially designed observation deck offers prime views of the harbor and the event’s highlights.
Notably, while Labubu’s inflatable will grace the harbor, the character will not be featured in the market’s activities.
The event’s centerpiece, the Water Parade itself, will take place on November 1, when the four massive inflatable sculptures form a dazzling flotilla, sail through Victoria Harbour to create a unique and unforgettable spectacle.
Leading up to this, from October 25, the inflatables will be on public display in the waters off Tamar Park, visible from the Central and Western District Promenade, offering ample opportunities for visitors to marvel at their scale and artistry.
Adding to the star-studded lineup, the event will spotlight characters from Netflix’s hit series, including the fantastical KPop Demon Hunters, the sci-fi thriller Stranger Things Season 5, and the global phenomenon Squid Game.
Classic favorites like Snoopy and the Peanuts gang, alongside Hong Kong’s iconic TOLO Original Rubber Duck celebrating its 40th anniversary, will round out the international roster, creating a nostalgic and vibrant atmosphere.
Early-bird tickets for the Water Parade pop-up market go on sale September 26 via the Klook platform, with adult tickets starting at HK$50 and children’s tickets at HK$40, offering discounted rates for those who book in advance.
The event promises to be a must-visit autumn highlight, blending interactive fun, cultural icons, and the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbour. For more details, the public can go to waterparade.com to plan their visit to this extraordinary celebration.
