Approximately 300 people were evacuated from a construction site in Quarry Bay on Friday after workers unearthed a suspected bomb dating back to World War II.
The discovery was made during excavation work on Pan Hoi Street around noon. Site personnel immediately alerted the police, who cordoned off the area and proceeded to evacuate workers and occupants from nearby shops and residences as a safety precaution.
A police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was dispatched to the scene to assess and safely handle the historic ordnance.
