Peter Lam Kin-ngok, Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), welcomed the initiative of "Tourism is Everywhere" in Hong Kong put forward in the latest Policy Address.
He thanked Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu for his strong support and affirmed that the HKTB will fully cooperate by hosting mega events, immersive tourism and providing Halal certification fee subsidy.
Lam noted that the Policy Address outlined a clear development direction for the tourism industry. The HKTB plans to organize multiple mega events, including an enhanced Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival in October and the 2025 LIV Golf tournament.
In addition, the HKTB will continue to promote immersive, yacht tourism, ecotourism as well as the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland. It will also collaborate with Ocean Park and the Hong Kong Jockey Club to launch more panda-themed products and promote horse-racing tourism respectively.
Furthermore, the red tourism route of "Chinese Cultural Celebrities Rescue" will be a key focus for future promotions.
Regarding the goal of making Hong Kong a most sought-after destination for premium visitors, Lam noted that the Board will enhance Hong Kong's Muslim-friendliness through "accreditation, education, and promotion.” A funding scheme is launched, beginning today through the end of next year, to provide a half-rate certification fee subsidy for restaurants that have acquired Halal certification, capped at $5,000.
Lam stressed that Hong Kong should strive to achieve “Hospitality is Everywhere” in addition to "Tourism is Everywhere," hoping to enhance service standards and visitor experiences through public engagement and media promotion.
