Man arrested for assaulting police officer during burglary probe in Tuen Mun

A 54-year-old man was arrested in Tuen Mun on Saturday morning after allegedly attacking a police officer during an investigation into a suspected burglary at Po Tin Estate.

At approximately 7.34am, officers from the New Territories North Regional Police Headquarters responded to a report of a burglary at a unit in Block 5 of Po Tin Estate. 

During the investigation, the suspect, surnamed Pang, reportedly became agitated and assaulted an officer. 

Police subdued the man, who was then arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. He is currently detained for further investigation.

The officer sustained a head injury, while the suspect also reported feeling unwell. Both were taken to Tuen Mun Hospital in stable condition for treatment.

The case has been handed over to the Tuen Mun Police District for follow-up inquiries.
