Torrential rain floods five HK spots: DSD

The Drainage Services Department (DSD) has confirmed five cases of flooding as of 11.30am, affecting areas including the Chai Wan roundabout, South Bay Road roundabout, Stanley Village Road, Big Wave Bay Village, and Wang Long Village on Lamma Island.

It is reported that the monitoring device  at the Chai Wan roundabout recorded a maximum water depth of approximately 37 centimeters, while the South Bay roundabout experienced a depth of around 15 centimeters. 

Additionally, water levels on Stanley Village Road and in Wang Long Village reached about 25 centimeters.

The department reported that all flooding cases were resolved within one to two hours following the deployment of emergency response teams. 

Meanwhile, the traffic at the Chai Wan roundabout, the South Bay roundabout, and Stanley Village Road has gradually returned to normal.

Furthermore, the department indicated that over 120 emergency response teams are actively monitoring and clearing approximately 240 drainage points that are prone to blockage. 

The authorities encouraged citizens to report any street flooding by calling the 24-hour drainage hotline at 2300 1110.
