Friday marked a significant celebration for Hong Kong’s football enthusiasts as Liverpool FC inaugurated its first-ever Greater China flagship store at Kai Tak Retail Mall, bringing a piece of Anfield to the city.
The grand opening was graced by the presence of Reds legends Kenny Dalglish and Sami Hyypiä, who engaged with fans through autographs, photos, and lively interactions.
The event reached its climax when the Premier League Trophy was showcased for the first time at Kai Tak Sports Park, eliciting cheers from the assembled crowd. The atmosphere was further electrified by a surprise visit from Mighty Red, Liverpool’s cherished mascot, who entertained the fans with his typical antics.
Lee Dwerryhouse, Liverpool’s Senior Vice President of Merchandising, emphasized the importance of Hong Kong as a crucial market, pointing out that Asia hosts around 250 million Liverpool supporters.
He mentioned that the passionate fanbase and strong retail performance in Hong Kong made it an ideal location for their flagship store in Greater China.
The store promises an engaging experience with features like a replica of Anfield’s dressing room, a trophy wall that highlights the club’s illustrious history, and exclusive merchandise.
This includes limited-edition jerseys and collectibles available only in Hong Kong. Additionally, special T-shirts that match the players’ preseason tour kits are on offer.
Crystal Wong, Head of Retail at Kai Tak Sports Park, described the store as more than just a retail space, viewing it as a portal for fans to engage with their passion.
