Driver involved in fatal Hung Hom car accident arrested

A 49-year-old Indian man, who has been on the run for a day after crashing a truck in Hung Hom which resulted in one death on Tuesday (Jun 17), was arrested on Wednesday. 

The fatal accident occurred at around 6.30am as the driver lost control of the truck while traveling along Ping Chi Street southbound. The vehicle struck two women at a bus stop near Fat Kwong Street after spinning 180 degrees, with the driver getting out to quickly flee the scene.

Police arrested a 34-year-old vehicle owner on suspicion of "dangerous driving causing death." He has been released on bail pending further investigation and is required to report back to the police in late July.

The driver, a Hong Kong Identity Card holder, is also suspected of "dangerous driving causing death" and is currently being detained for investigation.
