Teenager arrested for corrosive liquid attack in Wan Chai

A 17-year-old man with a triad background was arrested on Wednesday in relation to a drain cleaner attack on a 35-year-old mainland woman in Wan Chai on Monday (Jun 9). 

Police believed the incident was related to a business dispute involving an amount exceeding HK$10 million from the victim’s company.

The incident happened around 2pm on Monday. The victim was waiting for her boyfriend outside a hotel located on Johnston Road when she was attacked by a man wearing all-black clothing with corrosive liquid. 

The suspect immediately escaped after the incident, and the woman was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment.
