Greenfield English (International) Kindergarten will cease operating its two branches starting in August, citing the city’s falling fertility rate.
According to a letter sent to parents, the kindergarten will shut down its Tai Kok Tsui and Tung Chung campuses, while two branches located in Tseung Kwan O will remain open.
The kindergarten once operated seven branches across the city at its peak, before its Ma On Shan branch closed last year and the Sheung Shui campus terminated services in 2020.
Meanwhile, the Education Bureau said it has been notified by the school body regarding the closure and will provide appropriate assistance.
A total of 17 kindergartens have ceased operations this academic year as of early May, with an additional three applying for new school registration.
The Bureau also noted that the number of kindergartens will be adjusted accordingly as the student population declines.
