Over 30 food delivery riders congregated in Kwai Chung to address rumors of a potential pay increase on Tuesday, causing disruption as their motorcycles blocked the road.
A circulating video captured police officers managing the situation as a significant number of riders assembled outside Kwai Chung Plaza, drawing the attention of onlookers.
The gathering reportedly began when several riders, while waiting for orders, overheard a colleague calling the company to request a pay raise. This prompted other nearby riders to make similar demands.
As word of the rumored pay hike spread, more than 20 additional riders joined the assembly, resulting in numerous motorcycles cluttering the area.
Upon arrival, police investigated the scene and determined that the crowd was not staging a strike but was simply discussing the rumors.
Following police intervention, the riders peacefully dispersed on their motorcycles. Authorities later classified the incident as a misunderstanding.
