Hong Kong boasts the world's most service-dominant economy, with the sector contributing over 90 percent to the city's GDP. The pivotal role of the service sector in Hong Kong's economy is unmistakable.
To celebrate this vital industry, the Sing Tao Daily, a sister publication of The Standard, annually hosts the "Sing Tao Service Awards." This prestigious event honors the top performers in Hong Kong's service sector, applauding the efforts and achievements of companies and teams throughout the past year.
The latest ceremony, held on March 21 (Fri), was graced by notable figures including Bernard Chan Pak-li, Undersecretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung, Lawmaker; Bonnie Chan Shum-yue, President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries; Alan Siu Yu-bun, CEO of the Property Management Services Authority; and Siu Kam-wing, Associate Professor of Business Education at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
A total of 63 awards were distributed across five categories: "Banking and Financial Services," "Insurance Services," "Community and Livelihood Services," "Leisure and Lifestyle Services," and "Caring Services."
The ceremony was vibrant, with representatives from each awarded organization taking the stage to accept their honors, contributing to the event's success.
The Sing Tao Service Awards Ceremony is a highlight of the city's annual events calendar. For this edition, the panel of professional judges included Professor Simon Ho Shun-man, President of Hang Seng University of Hong Kong; Siu Kam-wing; Professor Simon Lee Siu-po from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Institute for Advanced Study in Finance; and Professor Patrick Poon Shing-chung from Lingnan University. These esteemed academics assessed the performance quality of the nominated companies, integrating public votes from industry peers and readers to enhance the awards' credibility and authority.
The ceremony commenced with a grand opening led by Ivan Tong Kam-piu, editor-in-chief of Sing Tao Daily, and the officiating guests. Following their speeches, the award distribution began, with each recipient stepping onto the stage to receive their accolades and congratulations.
After all awards were presented, the recipients gathered on stage for a group photo, marking the close of a successful ceremony.
