Public transport set to go on the LNY holiday's scroll

As citizens prepare to enjoy dining out and attending fairs on Lunar New Year's Eve (Jan 28), public transport services will be improved to accommodate the festive celebrations.

All MTR lines (excluding the East Rail Line between Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau, Airport Express, and Disneyland Resort Line) and seven Light Rail routes will provide overnight services on Tuesday. 

All the lines will also strengthen services starting from 3 pm on the day, with peak frequencies operating every two minutes on the Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line and Tseung Kwan O Line (from North Point to Tseung Kwan O Station).

Additionally, three MTR bus routes -- 506, K51 and K54A -- will extend their service hours.

On the second day of the Lunar New Year (Jan 30), the MTR will adjust services on seven lines to accommodate spectators who enjoy the Victoria Harbour fireworks display, while the East Rail Line will gradually enhance services beginning that morning.

Meanwhile, seven special bus routes (Citybus 38S; KMB N43, N64P, N243, N272; and cross-harbour buses N116 and N601) will operate overnight on the first day of the Lunar New Year (Jan 29), with KMB extending service hours for 14 other routes and strengthened services for seven routes.

Citybus will provide overnight services on three routes (38S, N116 and N601) on Lunar New Year's Eve.

Furthermore, tram services will be extended to 1.30am following the night of Lunar New Year's Eve with increased services subject to passenger demand.

During this year's Lunar New Year holiday, all land border control ports' service hours will remain unchanged, except for the Lok Ma Chau and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge control point, which will maintain 24-hour operations. 

Citizens can take the Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang cross border Shuttle Bus, also known as the Yellow Bus, from the Lok Ma Chau (San Tin) Public Transport Interchange to the Huanggang port.
