All Tsuen Kam Interchange bound lanes of Cheung Pei Shan Road near Cheung Shan Estate are closed to all traffic after a couple of roadside noise barriers burst into flames on Wednesday morning.
The huge fire broke out at around 11 am this morning with black smoke seen pouring into the air. There were also reports of explosions.
The Fire Services Department deployed one breathing apparatus team and used one jet to put out the blaze in about 23 minutes.
Fire officials and police officers are still investigating the cause.
A 70-year-old woman was checked by paramedics on site after complaining of discomfort from smoke inhalation. She was not required to be hospitalized.
Apart from all lanes of the Tsuen Kam Interchange bound Cheung Pei Shan Road, part of the Shing Mun Tunnels bound lanes of Cheung Pei Shan Road are also closed to all traffic.
The Transport Department advised motorists to use alternative routes such as Wo Yi Hop Road.
